I'm no computer whiz but that is poor!
My computer's specs are:
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ at 2.2GHz
768 MB RAM
ATi Radeon 9800 pro
120gig HD
Windows XP
I know it's nothing special but it runs far cry fine, and the demo's of Doom 3 and NFSU2 fine as well.
What kind's of results are you all getting? Anything i could do to boost the performance without spending much (think poor student's budget range!)

You should be getting close to 6000 or more with that setup, make sure the direct 3d settings under the ATI control panel are all set to very high performance, and AA, AF should be set to application preference.

I agree with this but it's normally a while before really good scores start poping up. My house mates pentium 4 3.4 gig pci-express top of the range ATI doesn't get what will be considered a high score on 3d mark 05. Around may or the next set of upgrades will generate the truly good scores.
Just do a online check to see what other people with the same sort of systems have been getting. Mine came out pretty high for my system specs on 03. Can't run 05 on mine as i have a geforce 4 ti 4600 and isn't a direct x 9 card.
(Damn my FX5200)
