1) No, doesn't come with a Disc. Argos do a pack of HI-MD discs for £4.99 for 3.

2) Dixons don't seem to be as cheap as Comet (currently £119 in store and £89 on the net

3) Sonicstage should transfer anything, I use ver 2 (which is what the HI-MD player comes with) to burn cds and it's fine. ATRAC wasn't given a very good welcome when it arrived, it was just too similar to MP3 with added protection, but ATRAC3 format used by these machines and later Net Minidisc recorders is very good, meaning that a 64kbps ATRAC is the same quality as a 128kbps MP3.

You can definitely get over 46 hours onto 1 Hi-md because i have done it myself. You do have to have it on the lowest transfer rate though.

13.5 hours of music seems about right for 1gb.

On my windows media player 7gb lasts for 80 hours.

If they are Hi-md's then they will say Hi-md on the packaging because I have seen them myself.

These are the HI-MD discs. Not sure about a 5 pack as I was too lazy to look for them.

a pack of 5 minidiscs. Im not sure if they are the 1gb hi-md version. It says that 13.5hours of music can be stored on 1 disc. Is this the 1gb version? or a normal minidisc pack of 5 because this seems to cheap.

I've looked at the next model up from the one you are asking it about. The 700 whatever it is has anti-shock and all that jazz. Will be needed for on the move me thinks.
