Chelsea have had a mediocre season which has been a roller-coaster ride. Employing a new manager who can't speak of word of English was the start of trouble. Claudio Ranieri has been nothing but a disaster for Chelsea. To be fair they are now in a very good 6th place, but Chelsea were second favourites for the title at the start of the league.
They have some how have found a way to fight for a European place. They have depended entirely on there home record as they won just 2 away games.
Player of the season has been Jimmy Floydd Hasselbaink. He has scored 23 goals which has helped Chelsea's season. He has a short tempermant though after blasting manager Ranieri for substituting him for a match. Jimbo is a class act, and surely Chelsea's best player, but there are far too many non English players at Stamford Bridge! Zola is superb, but Italian, Ed De Goey hasn't made many blunders since an embarassing disaster against Southampton 2 years back, but surely there needs to be a British backbone to every squad in England. John Harley, Dennis Wise and Jody Morris aren't enough!
If Chelsea are to catch up and be as good as Manchester United then they are going to have to spend big time over the summer, however I suggest they get rid of some of their alleged superstars, and get some England players. I don't think Ranieri will spend a great deal, so therefore Chelsea will not challenge for the title for another couple of years.
