I'm running a 56k modem and I just got the retail version. And I've probably been sitting at my pc for about 3 hours trying to update and unlock everything. What is wrong with valve??? Can't tey cut the poor people some slack? And will I be able to play offline after updating and stuff?
The whole registration/installation/unlocking/updating process took about an hour on my 56k.
It's definetely worth the wait though, the game is amazing.

How do I update or reinstall my drivers?
I have it running reasonably well with just 256mb RAM. It's probably more likely to be your drivers. (as said below).
Can it be the memory? I only have 256mb ram.
Really difficult to help as their could be a hundred things causing it.
Your best bet is to visit valve's support system.

In that there are several questions covering game crashes, basically follow their suggestions (reinstall gfx drivers, make sure yourself motherboard drivers are up to date etc.) firstly. Might not help, but at least then people will know what you've tried before trying to help further.

No, I get to that point where that guy in the room calls you earky in the first stage, ant then it just reboots. Someone please help me. I've waited so long for this game.
Do you get a bright blue screen and then it reboots?
I finally got the game to work, but now every time I walk a few meters my pc reboots. Whats wrong?? please help!!
