I'm doing this thing in English as a Speaking & Listening exercise where I'm asked to justify choices of items to take to a desert island. I don't know if anyone did it while they were at school, but you basically have to give 1 CD, 1 book and 1 luxury item and then explain your reasons for choosing them. It used to be done on the radio I think, with celebrities, but muh.

I'm sort of wavering in between a few ideas at the moment so thought it would be interesting (well, compared to half the crap in this forum) to see what other people would say.

List away...

What use would a CD be on a desert island without a CD player?

I asked that very question, munn, we have to "assume" there is one. Yes, with unlimited power source and that will never break.

Muh, this really is pointless. We're only doing this cack because they lost our speaking and listening grades for last year. Otherwise we'd be watching happy happy Christmassy things. Stupid school.

Fine then,

I'd ask for a really really sharp edged CD that one could cut wood with.

A Book on how to utilise an unlimited power source, turn a CD play into an 8 litre diesel engine, as well as making stones and wood into diesel, how to turn wood into paper with relative ease, and how to use a really sharp CD to cut wood into a luxury speedboat.

And my luxury item?

A mobile phone, so that I cna phone somebody and ask for help.
