It is one of those games that I hope to get for Christmas.
So is the battling system better? Much platforming still in it?
Is it as good as the last game?
I got it when it came out and it's got a really cool gothic theme to it, and the fighting is really good. When you kill an enemy (espceially when it does a slow-mo death) you see lots of blood pooring out if you cut the head straight down the middle, or just sliced their chest in half so they are in 2 pieces. Pretty gorey but not overly excessive, which is good for an adult game.
I've gotten quite far and it does take a lot of time to over come certain traps and groups of enemies (being surrounded by enemies isn't a good idea unless you know you can absolutely defeat each type without thinking) and can get annoying when you have to start back at the last checkpoint you passed through (isn't always a save water fountain though).
Unless this is different from the first game you can save by drinking water (which recovers health ayway) from a water fountain, and recover health from drinking knee-deep water in certain parts of an area.
Also essentially you are goign back and forth through to the past, then back to the present and then back in the past again. But the main parts of the game are in the past as the castle you are always inside is fully restored back then.
But for some arts you'll need to go to the present to get past a certain section to another time portal while being chased by the time demon which can kill you in one, so you really do have to run for your life and to not make any mistakes while hurredly jumping and wall running from platform to platform.
ALso there is plenty of traps and acrobatics to indulge your timing and button pressing skills in, and most of the game is based around platforming and fighting, and as i said before, platforming on the run too.
p.s. this game is mostly best played under cover of darkness as some oft eh areas tend to be a bit dark. so you need less light glare to see what to do better.
