Why is it that in the majority of PS2 pic's the cd is in up side down.

Surely to the uninitiated this is going to be a little miss-leading?

I know it makes it look better with it being a pretty purple colour and all but?

Even now some games don't require the space provided by DVD's and in such cases CD's are sufficient. Another factor is the cost of producing DVD's. CD's cost essentally nothing now, but DVD's are still relatively expensive. As the prive of DVD manufacture drops, the number of games we'll see on them will increase!

I think ssxpro has hit the nail on the head. Sony have been pushing the PS2's neon blue wherever they can, which i thinks well cool. The neon blue disc the is what PS2 is all about. Why advertise it with some cheesy printed disc

Advertising!

They can't show a game label, as it may be seen as giving preference to a certain title/developer/publisher.

I still don`t think they were upside down. There were no games, so there was nothing to print on the discs.

What colour is the disc before it gets the picture put on it? The same as it always is, purple. It wasn`t upside down, I`m sure of it!

Most of these pics with the CD in upside down are all from the same set that were taken when the PS2 was first unveiled in September 1999.

The disc is upside down because it is showing what colour they were going to be and because there wern't any game released then.

I guess the disc is alwaus that colour unless a picture is put over it, so as long as the disc is pictureless it is purple, probably not upside down.

Besides, rather than adding unwanted pics and colours to the overall image, they keep the purple / blue / black theme.
