Would I, using this adapter, be able to just connect Xbox to PC using the Ethernet cable, and play using my PC's broadband connection?

Put the network card in your pc.
Phone socket ---> router
router --(cable supplied)--> PC network card
router --(cable you've bought)--> Xbox
I can just plug the ethernet cable straight into that can't I, saving a tenner?
