After buying a crossover cable off eBay so that I may get Xbox Live going as soon as I open the Starter Pack on the 25th, I found out that I don't actually have the right port on the back of my truly awful PC. This means I can't get on Live using ICS, like I was planning to, so I will have to use a router. Anyone know where the cheapest place to get one is? Or an adapter or something so that I can get the right port? I'm not really into all that techno-flap stuff, so any tips would be appreciated.

Cheers

EDIT: Right, using Biggles' wonderful FAQ, I've managed to steal this link...

(apparently (SP?) it's too long to make into a link, so I've put that space in after 'uk/')

Would I, using this adapter, be able to just connect Xbox to PC using the Ethernet cable, and play using my PC's broadband connection?

Get yourself a router otherwise you'll need your pc on whilst your on xbox live.

Router: http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=3912510889&action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=48449

Network card: http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=3912565301&action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=43684

Put the network card in your pc.

Phone socket ---> router

router --(cable supplied)--> PC network card

router --(cable you've bought)--> Xbox

You make a good point.

I can just plug the ethernet cable straight into that can't I, saving a tenner?
