chances are your battery ran out they have to be replaced every year or so or it all resets. i have a uk saturn but had it chipped many moons ago and play it all the time. :D
I got me a memory card for the saturn, never had problems with it. If you leave it connected to a socket it will be ok as it doesnt have to use battery power.
i have to use my cartridge slot for my ram cart so have to rely on my built in memory.
