Now Creed for those who need a reminder were a "post-grunge" band; heavy, detuned hard rock with a singer with a deep husky voice, who sound a bit like Pearl Jam or Nickelback or Staind or... you get the idea.
Since the demise of Creed, the guitarist, Mark Tremonti, has been sharpening up considerably and can now play his ass off. Creed's bassist who was unceremoniously dumped between their second and third albums now has long hair and is back with Tremonti and Phillips, the drummer. New singer is Myles Kennedy.
No point in trying to remember the set list, they played most of their debut album One Day Remains. Set lasted about an hour and since they played a blinder there was a lot of calling for an encore, which they did, and which lasted at least half an hour.
They worked the crowd fantastically. Flattered the singing, the clapping, very appreciative of the reception etc. Things got off to a bad start when Tremonti's guitar conked out on him. However they just laughed it off and started again.
They were backed by Logan, who sound rather like them, albeit not quite as polished. Logan, despite sounding like another slice of angsty Americana are actually from Glasgow I believe. I bought their album anyway and am rather impressed.
So yeah, listen out for Alter Bridge and Logan, especially if you like that sort of sound. And they really were sensational live. Better than Nickelback, Muse, Foo Fighters and the Spice Girls.
Oh yeah and some busty blonde groped me in the nads.
Can't get to bar, damn dirty place.
Oh and the singer from Logan I've seen about. Dude has long hair and I've seen him on Sauchiehall Street wearing a green pinstripe suit. I nearly stopped him to ask him where he got it. One helluva suit.
Although I do still feel dirty having been in the Garage again for the first time since about '98.
I've heard of Logan before somewhere.
i may be seeing them at mean fiddler in a few days!
Tremonti always could play his arsse off. legend (Unforgiven, ode and look at the riffs on higher and stuff)
Brian marshall is back in the line up.
Find the real is classic broken wings is immense. I liked creed (booo hisss) but alter bridge have made a very good album.
