God Speed You Black Emperor. Now they utterly kick ass. Usual semi-pretentious but also god damn amazing stuff I pretend to know lots about. Along with Explosions in the Sky, these guys have been all I've been listening to recently.
Acquire 'Terrible Canyons of Static; Chart #3; World Police and Friendly' (i.e about 4 tracks mashed to together into a 22 minute epic. The album I have has 4 of these). There is an 7/8 minute build of strings and other crazy instruments and guitar and bass until it all crashes and thrashes and a crazy guitar solo franticly darts all over the drums....ach, you have to hear it.
