Yes, well, having seen a recent article in PC Modding (US mag. I was over there, I thought why not...) about making your PC controllable via a remote controller (phone, TV remote, whatever - I have a spare BEKO remote, SKY does the TV), I'm quite interested.

I'd love to be able to use my PC as a proper Hi-Fi, therefor justifying my want to buy a nice second 5.1 system for it, to complement my surround sound system (DVD, TV, iPod, PS2 etc...).

And, from what I've just read on this forum - and the fact that PC World can do it - it's gotta be pretty damn easy.

Cheers!

normally with little addon cards, although most barebones actually have built in functions for addons such as shuttle and msi

Look at the bottom two.

NOTE - I think you need a Shuttle PC for the Shuttle one to work, but the ATI one works all round, I think. Best double check with [email protected] if you intend to buy. He's friendly and will reply asap.

You can buy smaller USB infra-red receivers and either buy or download some software to "read" the IR signal. You can use any remote you like, and you can just program the buttons yourself to do whatever you want.

Alternatively, download Float's Mobile Agent (Open Source), and use a Bluetooth enabled phone to achieve the same effect - it controls WMP10, PowerDVD, WinAmp, WinTV, and even gives you control of the mouse, volume, and to shutdown/lock your pc.
