Sometimes when I get bored, I start playing around on web sites putting together ridiculously powerful PC packages.

So if you had a budget of say £5000 to build a top spec PC (exc monitor, speakers, peripherals, etc), what would be the best system?

How much did yours total? It can't have been £5000. For £5000 you must be able to have dual-FX55s or something?!?!
