i unshamedley cut a paste this from ign. they are talking about VF4 wich is due to hit test arcades in tokyo soon

In addition to sampling the game, gamers will be able to pick up an early version of the tentatively named "Virtua Fighter Character Data Card." This 500 yen card seems to function much like the Virtuaroid licenses in Hitmaker's upcoming Virtual On Force. It stores your user name, along with information on your fighting history, and can only be used with one character at a time. Play VF4 multiple times using the card, and your character is automatically selected according to the character set on the card. When playing with the card inserted into the arcade machine, the game displays your rank on screen.

The card also links VF4 with AM2's previously announced VF.Net service, of which NTT DoCoMo's popular i-Mode cell phone service plays a large part. By accessing VF.Net through your cell phone and inputting the access number associated with your card, you can access some community-style Virtua Fighter features. You'll be able to view nation-wide rankings, find out where the best players play, access a Daily Virtua Fighter news letter which contains techniques for the game and information on new location tests, and change the color of your character.

And get this. The service apparently will send you an e-mail when certain players come into an arcade that you've specified. If you want to play against the best VF players in the world (or just want to keep an eye out for that hot girl who whooped your ass using Aoi the other day), VF.Net looks to be your best shot, aside from camping out at different arcade locations day after day.

The Virtua Fighter Character Data card will be updated with a new version when the final version of the game comes out in July. If you've purchased the card for use during this beta period, you'll be able to exchange your card for the final version (although we'd suggest that you keep it, as it will probably be quite the collector's item in the future).
