And we got clutted with Adware, Spyware, anythingelseware, the lot. :-)
I tried to get rid of most of it through using "add/remove programs!" but it seemed that didn't do it alone.
So I tried adaware.
A quick download and a mini-scan and it detects a whole load of nasties on my computer. Some of the names being VERY familiar, having shown off their websites before when I'd least expect it.
Then came the crunch.
"To continue, you must register."

$30?
A fair price for software, but not one I was really prepared to pay. I thought "forget. my PC is a little slow but I can live like that...".
So I clicked the cancel button.
A box came up:
"WAIT! You have qualified for a special offer! Just $20!!"
Still didn't want to. Cancel.
"Oh go on! You'll protect you machine in so many ways!"
Not interested. Cancel.
"Okay, so you don't want to pay. So try it free for a little - you'll be limited to just one scan per month but you'll get our lovely toolbar to prevent more problems! And we're sure you'll love us so much you'll want to pay us in the end!"
Okay, but I'm making no promises about coughing up now! ;-P
So I get it free. :-)
Slightly pushy marketing, but it is a good cause, giving everyone atleast a limited tool against these stupidd hacking pests! :-)
http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022_4-10045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5 That's the d/load location.
But here's the story in more detail:
I was getting pop up ads to get rid of adware, so I typed in:
www.adaware.com or .co.uk, I can't remember.
And that's where this download came from.
The tool bar didn't seem so bad, blocking pop up windows and stuff, but I'll have to see what's up with it someitme.
I should've guessed something was up when it wouldn't let me quit! :-D

Interesting, downloading an anti-adware program, and it turns out to be adware XD
It made him download a toolbar?! whats with that?
Go to lavasoft, and download adaware, the version i have is free.
Funny that...
Looks bad.
Adaware is free, completely. Something else is trying to screw you over.
Oh, an don't use that computer to do anything important, they're probably logging every key press.
