I'm looking ot secure my machine from trojans / hijack attempts etc (I went on line via modem last week without anything, just as a test, and get taken down straight away. ALL Friday night from 6 till 12 to reformat and reinstall my apps).
I'm currently using Avast anti virus, windows firewall and automatic updates.
I tried installing Prevx, as tyla (I belive) recommended it. After install, my machine goes through bios startup, them immediately crashes and resets as it attempts to load windows. I get no time to read the error message. Safe mode -> restore to previous gets me past the problem.
Anyone any recommendatioons on what I can use to further protect the beast, and anyone any clues as to why Prevx is taking down my machine?
[edit] Also, the girlfriend is wanting to use the internet access on my desktop, via a wireless link to her laptop. Does the laptop need firewall / antivirus software installed, or, since it's going throught the hopefully protected desktop upstairs, not.
