Right, well.

Finally my Motherboard and PSU arrived, and I set up my PC. All fine and dandy.

Booted up OK, but suddenly, (after correctly detecting the CPU as a P4 3.2GHz), it comes up with;

"CPU unworkable or changed - please check SoftMenu"

So I do, yet everything seems ok. FSB set at 200, everything cool.

Specs:

Pentium 4 3.2GHz (Running at 3.2GHz)
ABIT IC7-G Motherboard
Crucial 512MB RAM
GEIL Value 256MB RAM
DELL 256MB RAM
120GB HDD (SAMSUNG)running in IDE
CD-R 48X
DVD-R 8X
ATi Radeon 9600XT

What the hell's up with this? Pulled out and re-installed everything, same problem.

Ugh.

This is absolute b*llocks.

Did it actually boot, by that I mean load Windows? Or did it just POST (Power On Self Test)?

Did you do a fresh install of Windows or just plug everything in and hit the power button?

POST

Didn't get past that message. Put everything in, pressed "On", and voila.

Make sure you save everything, even if you don't change settings. If that doesn't work, try changing a setting, then saving, then going back and setting it back to what it was before.

I have... nothing.

UGH.

Can't create a boot disk as it doesn't get that far.

Sh*t.

I notice you've mixed RAM types, try just using one module at a time, the diffrent RAM timings/speeds might be confusing it, ABIT boards are quite fussy about RAM...

And turn off any GAT/PAT functions or set them to auto.

Aha.

Looking at the results. I've searched and searched already though...

It would seem I only need to flash the BIOS and install the latest BIOS version.

Easy enough, but I have broken my FDD and my other FDD is a USB / external one.

Which blows...
