I played games like Sims 2 and sometimes watch movies while surfing and using several graphics programs and I run 2 jobs at once yet I notice no slow down at all, for some reason the CPU rating stays pretty much the same as well. I am only using a P4 2.2

Well it runs at start up and runs in the background unless you turn it off. Unlike a benchmark though, it is run at lowest priority, which means that when you go to open Word or something that gets priority. I've even run it during games, it just doesn't get many if any CPU usage that's all.

It's like running a benchmark in that the CPU is under load but with the advantage you never get any lag.

Does it effect your PC constantly or just when you run it, like a Benchtest prog?

Only to download/upload work units. It runs them when not online as well, but obviously can't download anymore. It normally keeps a couple queued.

Right, so you have to be connected to the net for it all to work?

It is a distributed computing project, uses spare CPU cycles (of which you have a bloody lot) to do virtual screening. In other words, it uses computers to try figure out ways of getting good molecules to fit onto bad evil cancer proteins. That's the simple way of explaining it. When they find one that does "bind", it is known as a hit. Eventually, once they do all the jobs for an evil cancer/HIV/malaria/SARS/tuberculosis protein, they review all the hits and then do real world testing.

If they do actually find real growth inhibitors, as in they work in the lab and not just on a computer, then the have something to further research in looking for cures.

The Help Save The World thread in General Chat contains all you need to know. Nearly.

EDIT - It also makes for a really good stability test when overclocking. As good as, possibly better than, Prime95 for testing.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
Impressive control panel
I have to say that I'm impressed with the features available having logged on... Loads of info - excellent.
