Of course, the most interesting one has to be Virtua Fighter 4, the next in SEGA's beat-em-up series, and is set to be a PS2 exclusive. It has been on the cards for quite some time, and should heat up the battle for the beat-em-up crown, what with Tekken 4 in development and Dead or Alive 3 also announced.
An interesting rumour, is that Headhunter is heading for PS2. This game has been talked about for quite some time, and looks very good, with shoot-outs and motorbike chases being the order of the day. This could be the only game that can challenge Metal Gear Solid 2.
Two other titles have apparently been confirmed for the PS2. The first game is Ecco the Dolphin, and the other is F355 Challenge. These games would both be welcome editions to the PS2, as the PS2 is crying out for some classic and brilliant games.
Last, but certainly not least, has got to be the game that could challenge Gran Turismo 3. This game is Metropolis Street Racer, by Bizarre Creations. This game is truly amazing in every department and is one of the most original racers I have ever played. This should hot up the war between racing games on the PS2.
Sega, as a developer, have signed up to develop software for the PS2. Sega own the rights to the name Metropolis: Street Racer.
The actual game was developed by Bizarre Creations. They own the rights to the actual code of the game, but not the name. They haven't signed up to develop for the PS2.
This means that Bizarre Creations can do what they want with the M:SR code, they can releas it on ony console they want, they just can't use the name Metropolis: Street Racer.
Hope that makes some sense!
Also, I have heard that VF4 won't be a PS2 exclusive, its set for a DC release as well.
I think you have it right though, the PS2 needs some classic games, at Sony can't supply them itself, so it needs Sega to get them out of a hole.
Of course, i could be wrong about all of this.....
I thought DOA3 was going to be X-Box only, maybe it wasn`t an exclusive then. As for the rest, the only one that interests me is Ecco, simply because I always used to want one when I had my megadrive.
