As the title suggests I am looking for manga graphic novels. To be a little more specific the Dragonball and Dragonbaal Z ones. They are published by Viz at the moment so those are the ones I'm looking to get. I'm just wondering if anyone knows of any decent sites. I've looked at a few and the best price I've found is £5.99 a volume.

The sites I have tried are anime-on-line and citycyberanime so no links to those please.

Have you been/heard of any of the anime conventions in the UK? There have been several new ones lately. There might be 4 or 5 next year. Good to see they've gone from 300 to 1000. In the US they're in the 10,000s we've been very slow because some fans dont want to do big conventions or for anime to be popular. Kinda selfish :)

Great. Love seeing fans dressd up. I've thought about it but don't have the time or skills to make any sort of costume. I'd wear it just because I could though.

Okay let me find the disc and I'll send it you straight away.

This is a typical anime fan at a convention (dressed as Lum from Urusai Yatsura)

I have seen the anime version of chobit which I really enjoyed.

Thanks bRAINdEAD. I've heard of Ranma 1/2 but have never had chance to read it. If you can I wouldn't mind rading the first volume please.

I do have broadband which is always good. My email is [email protected]

Yes that is true but from the DB/Z mangas my brother has they seem quite similiar. Still very enjoyable. I tend to read comedy mangas such as Ranma 1/2, Chobit, Love Hina, Lum, Azumanga, you get the idea. =)

If you enjoy the DB/Z manga give one of the others a try. My first was Ranma 1/2, if you have broadband I could send you Volume 1 to see what it's like. An ebay customer I talked to about manga she was very nice and made me a CD with all the mangas scanned in. It's a romance, comedy, with some martial arts, well it's not lovery dovey romance. Huge hit in Japan and America. In America Manga now make up almost all of the Top 100 comics sold each month. So much for US comics.

Thank you. The company name does ring a bell. I'll be sure to look more in depth. I've been a fan of DBZ for a few years now and I just want to compare the anime and the manga. I'm thinking about getting a few for christmas and buying the rest myself.

If I enjoy those I may go one to other mangas as I've read that a lot of animes differ compared to the original manga versions. I shall just have to wait and see what Santa has in his sack for me.

Most people (well not people from here, they either still think manga is anime or they only watch anime and havent read a single manga) buy their manga from comic shops or sites like the one you've suggested, mainly amazon.co.uk they use but they sell them for more than £5.99.

However one place you might be interested in, up1.co.uk (http://www.up1.co.uk) one of the main UK mail order companies for anime and manga. A quick search there shows they sell the mangas for both series at £5.50 (if they're in stock). Click here to jump to the page you want http://www.up1.co.uk/up.nsf/Viz?OpenView&Startkey=D . They are a reliable company, I have spent many hundreds there in the past and have been very satisfied. Any items out of stock you can easily contact them and they will try and sort it out for you (hopefully).

It's an okay manga but there are many hundreds out there that are a lot better, a pity the UK manga industry was ruined by/isnt as good as, Americas.

Hope this helps if not there are only a few other sites that I could recommend but I'm quite sure they charge a lot more (anything cheaper than £5.50 would be in a comic shop and even then you're talking pence).
