I am an avid PC gaming fan, but I've been thinking about getting a console to keep at my girlfriends house (another PC would be too dear).
The choice is between an Xbox and PS 2. What do you guys recommend?

If you want exclusive games, then I would also consider a Gamecube. PS2 does have some good titles out at the moment but I'm pretty sure that this year, there will be some brilliant titles released fot the GC such as the new Zelda and Resident Evil 4. You can also find GC's for stupidly low prices these days, although I think a PC gamer would be more suited to a PS2 than a GC.

If you like RPG's get a US PS2. There isn't a console better for RPG's.

Otherwise get an Xbox.

Not exactly true. Granted there are some gems, Ico... and a couple of others, but the PS2's line up is shoddy mix of endless sequels, rare exclusive's and only an ounce of innovation. Plus there's problem with it deciding to funk up after a couple of years and stop working, which is what happened to me (and many others) forcing me to shell out for a replacement.

I've not got an X-Box, but have heard that PC gamers do tend to proffer that as a console. True some of it's games may get released onto the PC (and vice versa) but there's still an impressive collection of games on there that are unique to that system, certainly more than what the PS2 is offering.

If however you want to try something different, and something original, I'd suggest the gamecube. Some fascinating games on there, games which you won't find on any of the other systems, even if it isn't faring too well against the other two consoles.

Personally I prefer the PS2 but somehow I think that an XBOX would suit a PC player better.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
