The goods came by DHL and there was no customs charges. Result. Or so I thought.
I received a letter/invoice from DHL on Saturday charging me NO customs, NO import Tax but £10.72 VAT of said goods bought back in July.
Can they do this to me? Charge me so long after I received my goods?
I don't want to pay them if I don't have to, but I don't want to ignore it and get landed with a Court appearance date.
Please help, thanks

As it is VAT then the answer is a very probable yes.

Yes they can. I happens quite often so I think it has to do with how they handle their own VAT accounting.
Ignore it at your peril or ring them and ask them to clarify what exactly it is about :)
They want you to pay for their mistake.
