Folks,

Looking for a decent surround sound system, for use with the Xbox. Preferably a home cinema system. Must have optical input, obviously, to get the best out of the Xbox.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Hello,

You are talking about plugs with the KEF KHT 2005.2 system ? Do the 2005.2 system eggs support 4 mm plugs or only threads ?

I've looked at that amp before, nearly ordered it a couple of times, but I can't really afford it (says me who just spent £450 on new speakers I don't really need).

Not too bothered about the extra discrete rear centre channel, but I'd love to have Dolby Pro Logic II decoding. I've heard it at a mate's and it sounds a hell of a lot better than bog-standard Pro-Logic.

Maybe one day...

Ooooh scary, i had that amp! It's a very good amp, even second hand. But just upgraded last year to 6.1 STRDB-2000, even more nummy!

Those speakers will be waiting for me when I get home tonight (well, three anyway - the other two come in a couple of weeks). Heard nothing but great things about them - we shall see.

Also got that speaker cable, but my receiver is an oldish Sony (STR-DB940) - still sounds great though.

If you want a decent system, one satellite speaker will cost that much.

I'd suggest, scrapping whatever you have, robbing a bank and buying:

Kef KHT 2005.2 Speakers - Modern Style, Insanely Good Sound Quality.
Denon 2805 - New, at about £600, but has enough features including DTS EX, etc. Looks Stylish, too. Then again, it's designed by Brits!
Get some QED Silver Anniversary Cable with some good plugs, and you're away.

Don't forget to warm it up... It'll probably take about 24 hours.

If you DO want a system for £100, go for a Creative one. They're not bad, for what you pay.

Well, given that I've already got a decent DVD player, I'm really just looking for the sound system with optical input. There's one on here for under £100, so anything like that?
