This is mainly aimed towards SR employees....
Would it be possible to add a small string to the query string of the link to each post that identifies the time of the last post. e.g.
display_messages.php? threadid=123456&forumid=123&time=
This way you could tell if you had already read a post simply by the colour of the link cos the browser gives a visited link a different colour to an unvisited link. I wouldn't have thought this would be too difficult to do, but would be very useful.
