Noticed recently that a lot of films are being released as 2 versions on DVD. For example King Arthur which was a 12a at the cinema is being released as the normal theatrical release and then there's the original directors cut with 15 minutes of extra footage that'll be an 18.

The same goes for Hellboy, Dawn of the Dead and apparently the same will happen with Alien VS Predator and a few others.

WTF is up with that?

Reminds me of when i went to see spiderman 2, it was a 11:30pm showing and a woman brings her infant kid along...

Suffice to say the kid was crying because it no doubt wanted to sleep and the mother had to leave 5 mins into the film never to return.

Anyone with the capacity to cry should be banned from a cinema. It was bad enough in Iceland yesterday, I don't want my film ruined by stupid babies that have no concept of plot dynamics or cohesion.

In the States, they avoid an NC17 rating, which means nobody under 17 is admitted.
But with R certs, anybody can go if an adult accompanies them.
Which means you could take your 4yr old to watch Dawn of The Dead quite legally.

And people wonder why they're a killcrazy illiterate nation of invading spastics.

Dawn of the Dead was already an 18 wasn't it?

I'd be interested to see the uncut versions of Hellboy and AvP though.

Bunch of pansies.

Being serious though, its probably to do with having a larger audience that will be able to see the film in the cinema, thus boosting turnover.
