I have so many problems with our network - does anyone have any tips for keeping it running smoother? Firstly, the computers do not know they're connected to each other - it says it's connected to "any" and not the name of the other computer. Also, I have many signal problems, and when I repair the link, it says that the ISP address could not be renewed.
Anyone who can help can have the satisfaction of saving someone from the men in white coats, and also my gratitude.
Thankyou.
It's known well throught the wireless world that bu using multiple maufacturers leads to a lot of issues with connections, signal sttrength etc etc.
Without knowing what type of router it is I can't give you specific help, but generally you set routers up via a browser window. Just set things to automatic and it should renew the IP address.
Yes, they are both running Windows XP. The wireless network uses a router (if by that you mean the little aerial thinge on my window sill), and not a wireless card.
Are both computers running Windows? If so, what versions? Is this an ad-hoc network, in other words two computers with wireless cards connected to each other, or is it a fixed network with a wireless router and/or access point?
What hardware is used?
