Recently looking at the Gameaday winners list, I noticed that a very wise gamer had chosen Max Payne as their choice of prize.

Max Payne, if none of you have heard of it, is to hit a PC and PS2 soon and looks to be a game that shall fill all my gaming needs. It has been delayed time and time again by Remedy Entertainment and to say the least, I am glad, as the game looks set to use my PC and show me gaming how I like it, at its best.

The hype this game has caused has mad eme buy the co.uk address and going back to the Max Payne Homepage ever so often to check back for updates. And it looks as though it will be released very soon, Special Reserve have also added it to their listings now :->

If any of you have ever used 3DMark2001, which is downloadable from the internet. You will see a running demo of a scene from the Matrix. It looks stunning and spectacular and put me on the edge of my seat. this demo uses the Max Payne engine and the chracter himself dives from a piller and shoots, just as Max Payne will do. And this demo is created by Remedy.

In my eyes, this running demo IS what you can expect from the game which is Max Payne and boy do I want it. The excessive drool which fell from my mouth backs this comment.

If you do not have 3DMark2001 I suggest that you check it out and see what your PC is like for 3D Games. Or goto the Max Payne homepage.

Max blends in films with games, a topic regulary brought up on this site. I'm talking about possible game of the year here. This is one cool game.

4316 for 2000
2749 for 2001

Both of these are under win2000, with old drivers. I ran some under winME and got higher ones, but I can't remember what they were.

Athlon 1100mhz, 512mb RAM, 32mb GeForce2 mx

MGS2 isn't coming out till next year so i think Final Fantasy 10 (which comes out this year) should at least be in the top ten

two thousand five hundred and something. I have 32MB Viper 2 Graphics card. It's not bad.

My friend scored over five thousand with his 64MB graphics card and 800Mhz computer.

Have any of you used 3DMark2001?

If you have what is your PC's score on default settings? Mine is 2029.

They decided that Max Payne would be played 3rd person instead of 1st person. I think this overall will make the gameplay much better as Max will jump and leap etc.

If all goes well and the gameplay is good then this surely should be a classic.

Why is it that you have an erect tail?

I don't know why it is erect, it was just that I was walking through the jungle one MISTy night (bit of a pun thing there) and it just popped up!

I think I saw a female chimp or something or maybe its because i'm erm cold or something?

Surely the most important featue of a driving game is how the car handles.

It has to feel fun, be enjoyable. How can you tell that from a screen shot or a rolling demo?

People go on about how it should be gameplay over graphics, which i agree with comepetely, but then they go and say something like:

"GT3 is going to be wicked! Have you seen the screen shots?"

Surely that is contradiction!

(Perhaps not saying that you're preordering Gamecube games is a good arguementive move at this very point at time.)

That sounds a bit better.

Why? What`s wrong with screen shots? They give you an idea about what is going on.

As for the rolling demos, these are certainly a good indication.

Besides what more do you want? The only thing that could be given is the whole game!! Its going to be a bigger better version of the demo, with a load more cars, a load more tracks, and a load more extras.

How can you possibly not learn more than "diddly squat" from that?
