I was just interested as to what is your favourite game style.

There are loads to choose from

Driving
First Person Shooters
Strategy
Role Playing Game
3D Platformers
Sports
Adventure

And there are probably a few more that I have forgot to mention.

So, what’s YOUR favourite game genre and why? Also, what is your favourite game on that particular genre?

I really like racing games, but FPSs like Goldeneye are also very good.

I really don't know.

I love some 3D adventures, but not just the ones that are go here, kill enemy go somewhere else. I prefer the puzzle solving elements that some of them have.

Then again I enjoyed many RPG's on the SNES, so i like that kind of game too.

Sports games I like, probably because you can pick up and play for however long you want to really, with an Adventure you may have to reach the next save point or something.

FPS I have to be in the mood for. That's because i'm pretty terrible at them, so have to be in a mood in which I can deal with inevitable failure.

I'm not too big a fan of driving games, but if they're good then they might sneak into my collection.

Survival Horror? I like the idea of this genre, but have yet to play anything for long enough for it to really take me in yet.

Whether it be blasting guards in Goldeneye with the Rocket Launcher...casting spells with Vyse in Skies of Arcadia or pulling of a Combo in DOA2 there is fun to be had in all games.

Many people disregard certain games as a source of fun. Wookiee I know likes his survival horrors, I hate them I suppose, because of my morals and faith I don't think that I personally should play them, and because of this I have never WANTED to play them.

It is a tough question indeed and one that many people have trouble to answer. This might be because there are different representatives for each of the genres.

" Racing has gotta be my favoutire man, have you played GT3?!" But then again, person 'B' could turn round and say, "Racing games?!?!?!?! Are you daft, Even racers on the PS2 have failed, have you played Driving Emnotion Type-S...Terrible!"

Fighting games are the same...Fighting Vipers doesn't look set to take on the world and it hasn't really had the impact that maybe Soul Calibur of Tekken has.

People do have favourites, I am more likely to take a second look at a N64 platformer over a Dreamcast NHL 2K2 game, purely because I like the adventure.

But in general one type of genre isn't better than another. So I encourage you all to explore in to other genres, there is fun to be had.

EXCEPT in Survival Horrors....And I think Wookiee will back me up there.....:D

I've always wanted to play Alone in the Dark, but I'm looking forward to the fourth one... perhaps I'll try and play the eariler ones first.

I'm not sure about my personal favourite. I just like games. Maybe first person shooters or RPG's, but I really haven't played that many RPG's.

Survival Horror.

Why? Because the original Resident Evil made such an impact on me. Playing alone, at night, with the lights out, and the volume up.

"Ah, I remember this corridor from the magazines! Large spiders ahead!" thought I. So I waited. And waited. no spiders.

"Fine," I thought. "Maybe later in the game, then." And I ran down the corridor.

At which point several zombie dog crash through the windows.

'kinell, did I jump.

Possibly the only time I have yelled at a game out of fear, shock and surprise. It took me several minutes to compose myself, but it certainly made an impression. No horror film I've ever seen has made me feel as 'on edge' as I did playing the rest of that game.

It still makes me go cold thinking abuot it now, and so I would have to say that the original RE is still my favourite in the genre.
