I am no expert on DNS changes mx or A record but iv just had to get myself invoved in this techno stuff.
I needed to point my domain name at a new site that im having built on another server, so the A record has to be changed but freeola dont do that so iv changed the dns to the dns provided by http://www.zoneedit.com here I can change the A record my self, that seems straigt forward enough dosnt it.
What im not sure about is the email, will freeola keep the mx file so I can use the freeola email services or ?? what happens.
Any help would be helpfull
Thanks
Richard
I have changed the mx record back to mx1.freeola.net and my domain mail (hosted by freeola) is working ok. Not sure if it will carry on working when freeola update their cache. I have tried to get an answer from freeola support but I keep getting the reply "sorry we dont offer that service" so I guess we will have to wait and see.
Any comments or suggestion are still welcome.
Thanks
Regards
Richard
That was helpfull.
The mx record had changed to ones on supplied by zoneedit
If I now edit my mx record to mx2.freeola.net mx1.freeola.net will I then be able to use my freeola email account.
Thanks
Richard
If you goto http://www.dnsstuff.com/ and use the DNS lookup tool, select MX and input your domain name, this will vertify which mx servers the domain is using.
