Sometimes, especially with Quake 3, I put my disk is, and it doesn't load. It goes a little something like this:

1. Disk in. See the white & clear cubes with moving balls of light. All sounds normal.

2. Wait until pink light is way past clear cube. Ocean sounds fade. Stopping sounds from disk drive

3. See main screen. Funny spinning then stopping sounds form disk drive.

4. Go into browser. Wait for a few minutes. Get a disk read error.

Help? Is my PS2 busted, or is Quake dodgy? If I have to send my PS2 to be fixed, how long can I expect to wait?

Cheers

Have herd of a few iffy copies of games especially Quake.

However do your other games work ok. As if they do, one would assume that it would be a good idea to start off by blaming the game. Can you get it tested by someone?

Sorry didn't read your post correctly. You do say about other games. Can you get Quake tested, then at least you will be able to acertain where the problem lies.

Also about the turn around for replacements. Read somewhere that you can expect it to be around 72 hrs

I found Quake quite disturbing. My DVD drive made some well wierd sounds and the loading times were pretty slow. If since taking the game back for a refund but i do think the disc was faulty.

All other games work fine

Sounds like the game then, but if it is the console, Sony are usually very quick to replace consoles that are within the warranty.
