I have the Creative 6.1's and an Audigy 2 and I get loads of popping and background interferance.

Any suggestions as why I'm getting this and how I can improve it?

I don't think it's the audigy card. I think it's the speakers. They crackle and pop even if they're not connected to the PC.

Audigy cards are known for their temperamental nature, try getting updated motherbaord drivers as that solved my audigy problems with my old Asus motherboard.

Also try completely uninstalling the drivers and the hardware then re-insert the card into the PCI slot.

By the way the Logitech Z-5300s are the best speakers in the price range.Undisputedly. :D

Yeah, I was rather sad when we stopped selling them because for the price it has decent sound quality and looks class.

My brother has those speakers too, very nice indeed, they have a really small profile and don't look like ass either.

I'm trying the latest drivers now although the ones I have at the minute aren't exactly old.

No luck. It still does it.

I think I need to splash out a couple of hundred and buy a decent magnetic shielded set. These new houses are built without a care in the world so the chances are I'm surrounded by lots of interferance.

Make sure the cables for the speakers are straight and untwisted unplug and replug everything in

also test another pair of speakers as I have had problems with certain creative drivers with my Audigy 1 Player card with crackling noise and interference caused by an older driver, although there is no reason why it should do this. http://uk.europe.creative.com/support/downloads/su.asp is an easy way to update your creative drivers.
