Just ordered the new parts for the second rig which used to be this pityful spec:

Athlon XP 1800 TB core
256mb PC 133 SD RAM
Gigabyte 7ZXE motherboard
Geforce 2 MX PCI


Now I've upgraded it to this:

Athlon 64 2800+ OEM
Coolmaster Socket 754 Fan
Neo Plat Socket 754 motherboard (nforce 250 I think!)
Corsair Value PC 3200 512mb DDR

All from Komplett for £233 inc del

And from OCUK:

OCUK ATi Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb with Hitman Contracts (£141 inc del)

Not a bad little system for my little bro to run The Sims and other games on at pretty decent framerates and resolutions. £374 well spent in my view!

Oh yes get FADing...

Well basically I've tried diff ram in there, it claims the CPU is running at 65 degrees (when it's not at all) it ramdomly reboots etc, so I've elimated the ram and CPU as my old 2400 worked fine. It refuses to load into windows too, sometimes it won't detect the HDD forcing me to go into the BIOS and tell it that there is a HDD there.

If you are interested in the board I could mail you it for £10 (cover costs etc) but I cannot guarentee it working, but you never know maybe something in my Rig was funny with it, I'm off to work now so I'll be back on here around 10pm tonight.

Why do you think the board and RAM are goners? I'm actually more interested in the board.

I also have a 3ghz/512mb/60gb HDD/ATI Radeon 9000 Laptop and an old Celeron 500mhz system too, I think the board and RAM are funked, I'm selling my Althon XP TB 1800+ for £20 if anyone is interested.

Not bad at all. You get a lot for you money these days. I found an old pricelist a week or two back. Those were the days - Pentium 2 300 MHz processors only £499 each.

What are you going to do with the old rig?

With three computers you have the beginnings of a FAD farm...
