To paraphrase though, ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) works by having your PC connected up to DSL or cable etc. Now WITH the PC still all connected up you need to run a crossover ethernet cable from the Xbox to an ethernet port on the back of your PC.
If your modem takes up the only ethernet port on the back of your PC, then just turn the modem off and plug it into the Xbox directly. If you have a USB modem then you need to use ICS and may need to fit a network card if you don't already have one.
