When the server list is searching, my PC freezes up before it finds anything and I am forced to switch it off. I emailed Steam but I doubt I will ever get a reply. Anyone else had the same problem or know what to do about it?
Sounds like a firewall problem.
I used to have problems with ZoneAlarm getting in the way, even though I told it Steam was allowed net access.

Reduce the search criteria so less games show up putting less of a strain on the searching computer.
It's not a problem I've come across. Perhaps its worth having a trawl thro' Steams forums, there might be someone else with a similar problem. Else all i can think of is a Firewall or something is blocking access to the list and causing the game to terminate. Maybe.
