Just setting up my Athlon 64 FX53 with an Abit AV8 motherboard with 1GB Corsair XMS PRO 3200 memory and 2x 36.6GB 10,000 RPM Westeran Digital Drives. Running into the standard blue screen windows error when booting up to install XP PRO. Windows 98 installs fine and then when I upgrade and boot down to finish the installation I am getting the error:
"Windows has been shut down to prevent further damage from your computer. Run CHKDSK /F to check for errors on the drive."
All the hardware is working fine. Posting on the of chance somone has fixed something like this before.
Cheers.
Oh and you can boot from 98 SE to XP, should know having done it hundreds of times.

I'll third that.
Just boot off the XP disk, it'll prompt you for your Win95/98/2000/ME/Whatever, shove that in, remove it and continue the install.

I'll second that.
