Lets get to the basic, basically "warez" is a term used to obtaining a game without paying for it nor the intention of paying for it.
Now you would think from a simple point of view if you could get something for free over something that costs £20 then it surly should be something ideal?
But this isnt infact morally right, we are "stealing" from the companies who spend months producing these games.
What are the reasons FOR warez?
* Companies make millions of pounds, its not like your £20 will make much of a difference at all, so therefore it is right to take computer games.
* You cannot afford the game in question, because you are a student or whatever, therefore you should be entilted to play it, something like a communist state here?
* You want to try before you buy, you are a computer potato and dont want to wait either a couple of days from ordering from Special Reserve or going down the town to get it, when you go home you find out its absolutly rubbish and have to get more hassle of taking it back.
* Communism is the way forward, and the Capaltalist should be made to die.
But the arguments against warez
* It makes it so that all the time and effort that computer game companies put into the product absolutly worthless.
* It is immoral
* Demos are released to "try before you buy"
* Often they contain viruses by people to damage your data.
The way several companies are trying to combat warez..
1) Introduce a CD key system
2) Introduce an internet checking system
3) Introducing serial codes
All these methods have absolutly failed for single player, and in some cases for multiplayer as well, the warez crackers are always 1 step ahead of them.
In my view, if the warez industy continues to expand, then the price of computer games will be rising, and the quality will not be as good due to potentionally people losing their jobs over these issues.
There is no known way to combat warez, they are always 1 step ahead of us all.
Doesn't sound like much of a punishment to me - I can think of worse things than that.
>All whilst listening to He'ar' S''a'y's latest album.
>Then they should be forced to play Barbie Race and Ride >for the rest of their natural lives.
Now THAT, I can see where the pain might begin to set in. I'd be hard-pressed to find a punishment much worse than that! :-D
I would go further and say that software pirates should be hung, drawn, quartered, gagged, bound, stapped with sharp pointy sticks, gouged, prodded, punched, kicked, drowned, shot, mauled and burnt at the stake, all whilst listening to He'ar' S''a'y's latest album.
Then they should be forced to play Barbie Race and Ride for the rest of their natural lives.
