For anybody who's interested, the Mozilla people have released their first preview of Firefox 1.0.

I've got it and it works fine, and the 'live bookmarks' thing is pretty cool too. The address bar also turns yellow when using an SSL connection, making it much more noticable when you start / end a secure connection.

PR1.0 is pretty cool.

Cheers for the reminder, I like the new additions to the search bar.

Ah, in actual fact it's 0.8 I like. When I right-click and 'save to disk' it does it straight away without asking me where I want it to go - that's how I like it, yet 1.0 or 9.1 don't seem to support that, even though I select it in the download options...

0.9.3 is better as they fixed a couple of security vunerablilities.

0.6 was my fave as it ran from an archive and didn;t require installing. Used very little system resources too.

Anyone got the install file for the original Firefox? I can't seem to revert back to it as I don't like 1.0.

Very true, I need to upgrade to 1GB, Firefox being the main culprit taking 150MB, and leaking a further 50MB.

I'll wait till it' fully released.

Afternoon - I reccomend installing Firefox on a machine with LOTS of RAM, because it does seem to munch through quite a lot.

I haven't noticed any efficiency improvements, but I only used it for half an hour last night.

The little features I did come across were improved though.

Does Firefox run well on anything lower than 500MHZ, i have tried the older version on such a machine and it was just a resource hog (so basically is it more streamlined)
