Right.

There I am, happily surfing the 'net, and suddenly I can go to any other domains.

No links, nothing.

Help! They all return with the message: www.'everything'.com could not be found. Please try again.

Ugh.

I ran a "Click here to see if you're connected" thing from my router, and the connection passed all the tests, bar two; "Ping primary DNS 194.72.9.38" and "Test PPPoPvc 0 PPPOE connection".

What's happening?!?

Well slightly less mail problems are caused by Zone Alarm than with Nortons firewall but it still scares novice users with it dramatic messages.

ZoneAlarm is fantastic. I've never had any problems with it whatsoever.

Sounds like a DNS issue, if you goto Command prompt try and ping a domain that you are having problems visiting to vertify this for instants "ping www.ask.co.uk" and then try "ping 193.95.154.80".

Because their firewall sucks, but dont be disheartened, most of them do.

Mate, I do know about AA and S&D and that HiJackThis lark. :D

But yeah it's been sorted now. I turned off anything connected to the 'net that could affect the connection, and surprise surprise, Zone Labs caused it.

A-holes with their randomly reseting firewall... Why did it go to high all of a sudden, eh?

It's spyware my man.

Ad-Aware should sort you out.

Run that and remove all your dodgy files.

You usually get ad/spyware from browsing pornos or warez sites, or using stuff like kazaa/imesh.

Beware.
