I like videogames because I can escape from reality! When I'm playing Super Mario Bros, I don't think about whether the game could be possible in real life, or how cruel it may be to jump onto turles, I think about the harmless fun I'm having whilst only moving my fingers and thumbs!
I don't tend to like 3D PC games which are based on humanoid characters. They seem to be too artificial. Games like Command & Conquers, Worms, Lemmings, Doom, Star Trek Starfleet Academy, were all escapes from reality which really looked like they weren't real, but were still good!
The C&C games are simple to control, but require thinking and can almost block your mind from what's going on around you.
The Worms series is just sooo fun and easy to control, and it's humour in the sound schemes and the weapons makes it even more fun! Go supersheep!
THe lemmings games required total attention, so if you did lose focus on the game, bye bye Lemmings!
Doom was as original classic which no game has seemed to beat in popularity! Especially with the range of weapons, and the huge amount of levels available!
Star Trek Starfleet Academy is a brilliant game requiring skill and is excellent for those who are fans of the TV series and films. Actually controlling your ship in the Kobayoshi MAru level, and knowing your gonna fail sounds pointless, but your actions can change the storyline completely!
None of these games have much realism to them! But they are fun!
If games get too realistic, all the fun will be lost and the only way back will be retro games!
