Microsoft have unveils Plans for the X-Box Videogame System Designed for Future-Generation Game Experiences.
The public unveiling of the machine was accompanied by a host of game developers pledging their support. The technical specifications (see next page) are very impressive and include a 600 Mhz Intel processor and DVD movie playback. The machine will also be broadband enabled straight from the box, allowing ultra-fast web browsing. Developers already on-board include many of the Japanese giants, plus EA and Activision. Konami are said to be working on a new Metal Gear Solid game for the system, and Activision have confirmed that they are currently porting Tony Hawks Skateboarding for the system. The only major third-party player who hasn't confirmed so far is Squaresoft, the company behind the Final Fantasy games.
