Games could be given a huge boost by being featured on the back or inside CD and tape covers, especially if there was an agreement to use samples from the game in the tune itself. To return the favour, games companies could have music video options in game menus, like on DVDs, to spotlight the artists who provide the music on their games.
This cross advertising could do both markets good and if an agreement could be met then the advertising could be free, as part of the payment to the artist or the games company.
Perhaps it could even go one stage further in some games and have the actual artist appearing in the game. Now perhaps Eminem wouldn't look exactly right in Mario and Travis may feel out of place in MGS2, but given the right situation and game, it could add that hint of realism.
Or it could go badly wrong and budget games companies could be hiring MC Hammer to star in their next platform adventure, what do you mean it couldn't happen?

"ah aha aha buy, buy my car aha aha...."
Problem is, he puts people off, as everytime they try to take a look at the cars he says "You can't touch this!"
I know a few bands have played with this sort of thing before... Though for somereason its always been fairly low key...
On DVD's... Apparently the Dungeons & Dragons movie (which I understand to be pants?) ... has got a playable demo of Baulders Gate 2 stuck on it?
