Over the PSU. Didn't want to take any risks with the new hardware so have gone ahead and ordered...
ENERMAX EG485AX-VHB(G) PSU 480W A/PFC
Seems like a top PSU for high end systems and it has received some excellent reviews.
The Q-TEC was okay but what you said isn't the first bad press that Q-TEC power supplies have received and that I have read.

I'd defintely recommend a quality PSU for anyone running a top spec system, I bought a Q-tec PSU a while back which had a knackered fan, at the time I thought a PSU was a PSU, I'd certainly avoid their 550W (which is in fact no more than a 300w peak) cheapa$$ PSU's, it's not worth the risk in it wrecking the rest of your system.
