Get Warcraft 3 - that's good.
Although Rome: Total War might be better if you want a ton of units strutting across your screen.
Also, keep an eye on Age of Empires III due out later this year.

Rome: Total War is one I'd recommend.
Make sure you have a good machine though, if it's a prehistoric beast it won't run it.

Warcraft 3 + The Frozen Throne Expansion.
Rome Total War, but if you can't run that, then Shogun. It's more war strategy and half of it is turn based, half of it real time. One of the best games ever, though.
