Anyone see the promo video for this guy on Smackdown? Anyone else think the gimmick is going to bomb just from the name?
Anyway, did a bit of digging and this guy is another graduate of the WWE's very own clown academy, OVW. He has previously wrestled under the name Carly Colon and is the son of one of Puerto Rico's biggest every draws, Carlos Colon. Only problem is, Carly is a horrible wrestler, he fits the cruiserweight weight band, but has no high-flying or technical skills (hence the ridiculous gimmick, as it's the only possible way to get him over...), oh yes, I did say Puerto Rico, which is, obviously, nowhere near the caribbean. Trust me, I've seen Carlito wrestle and he actually makes the big steriod abusing botchers look good and he doesn't even have the excuse of being big!
From OVW, oh geez you mean they actually churn other stuff out apart from big botching hulks not able to wrestle to save their lives?
Not a good sign if he's from there, but i'll reserve judgement on his wrestling skills. However from his promos he already sucks and as we all know with Vince it goes

Well, the thing is if he's not a big powerful guy, then there must be some reason they've pushed him to the next level...I mean, lets look at the recent new talent.
Tyson Tomko and Luther Reigns are both big, power-based wrestlers and we all know the WWE is in love with them. Kenzo Suzuki ain't exactly big, and yeah he's not much good...to be honest I think we've seen the last one of him heh, but half the reason he was pushed I think is cos he's Japanese and had a 'mysterious' character.
Carlito may have a bit of a gimmick but he's not 'mysterious' or anything, and so I don't think the WWE would really push him unless he did have a bit of talent in the ring. Nothing special I spose, but hopefully he's at the level guys like Randy Orton and John Cena were when they debuted...

Heh, to be honest I'm quite looking forward to seeing him...looks like he had a bit of attitude. :P

it does look doomed.
it reminded me of the Razor Ramon teasers, where he'd wander round terrorizing old people.
but the whole "not as cool as me" thing looks like an incredibly BAD idea. WWE needs to make it's mind up, after spending a good many years not really bothering with the dafter named gimmicks (note, not REALLY bothering ;) ) to suddenly throw this guy into the mix seems a bit random.
Myabe put him on heat against the Hurricane or Rosey in some way as they're the only ones with gimmicks as daft as his... but at least they're good entertainment, this Carlito guy looks like he's taking it seriously :S
