Saw this early, was fairly good.

Not an all time classic, but pretty watchable. Firstly make sure you have seen pitch black as that is fairly important to several of the characters making any sense.

Part of the set looks like it was stolen from lord of the rings. The giant tower thing with the big sculpted heads on it looked ridiculously like the pass of kings (i think thats what it was called) from the end of the first LOTR film.It also obviously piked a bit of Julius caesar for its story line.

As you'd expect the story wasn't overly complex and the stunts and special effects were pretty good if not a little over done in places. Didn't play on characters anywhere near as much as Pitch Black which was a major plus of the first film, but in going more "sci-fi" i suppose this was to be expected.

Judy Dench and thandie Newton were pretty much in it to add some credibility to the cast. Jack (the girl from the first film) who is played by young Alexa Davalos is the eye candy and holds the action role pretty well with out being to cheesy.
Parts of it were over done and maybe the step up by the makers to try and make it an "epic" with huge SFX and overdone stunts was a bit to much, rather than following the atmospheric path of the first, but it is still worth a watch.

i'd give it 3/5 not to intense but very watchable and a touch predictable.

oh and another thing i noticed that looked piked! (sorry i keep just remembering them randomly) was how much did the overlord look like robocop with his visor off!

oh yeah the other thing was, i loved the way his funky pitch black eyes were just irrelevant in this film so they just made excuses to use them as they looked cool!

Yeah but there'll be about 5 prequels.

I personally cannot wait for The Chronicles of Riddick: Trying Easy-Up Pants and The Chronicles of Riddick: Disaster With The Finger Paints.

I thought it was a great film...There are supposed to be two more films in the series, but the ending didn't seem to leave much room for a sequel.

yeah it is a bit stupid, they don't even really explain that properly, its just like. ah well you can be a fit female riddick, youve been to prison so you must know how to be riddick. They didn't even say he had started to train her or something, she just has the powers.
