Sorry, I posted this by accident in the PC gaming room - and I’ve only just realized - so don’t think I’m spamming or anything. Sorry for another thread...

I'm going to order my entire system now - Motherboard, HDD, Ram, CD writer, and a 3 gig Pentium 4. I already have my case, PSU and graphics card at the foot of my bed.

So today’s question is simple:
Will all the leads and cables I need come supplied with the stuff I’m about to order - or do i have buy all these leads separately? I have all the power leads - that are linked to the PSU but what about HDD leads and all the other coloured spaghetti I can see in my current system.

If the leads are not included, please could you make a brief list of what leads i may need to splash out on. Thank you Kindly.

Yes, but you really need 2 to get the performance. If you put both the CD drive and HDD on the same IDE cable your limiting the HDD to what rate the CD drive works at which is lower than the HDD. The motherboard has 2 IDE slots, so why not use them both.

Which motherboard will you be buying? It will more than likely have SATA support, and as a result, I would recommend you purchase a SATA drive - if this is the case.

If its in a retail box it should come with everything you need, if it is OEM it may not contain everything like screws and cables.

But, if you get an SATA harddrive, like you should, you won't need extra IDE cabling.

Those are the cables. Its not really a motherboard issue about the lenght of IDE cables but the case size. I see you chose 90cm ones well unless you have a Full Tower then you wont really need the size. Think we use 60cm ones in my friends PC and with his one HDD, and one DVD he had plenty of lenght, too much infact as the case is no crowded with cables.

Right, so just the IDE cables then? http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=1419009071&action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=52437 will these do? I'm a newbie to all this, will there be enough space on my motherboard for plenty of these cables? Motherboard: http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=1419034510&action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=63165 I've heard Abit are quite a good make, and my graphics card is Abit too - so everything should fit nicely.

The motherboard should come with at least 1 IDE cable and 1 Floppy cable, but these will be the normal grey ribbon type and not rounded. The DVD drive might come with an IDE cable depending if its boxed. Just built a PC for a friend and his NEC 2500 DVD writer came in bubble wrap and had no cable.

Cables are cheap anyway under £2 for a rounded IDE 133 cable, and the same for a rounded floppy cable. Best to have 2 IDE cables, so that the HDD and DVD are on seperate cables.

As I said in the other thread, I didnt have to buy any extra cables at all. All the necessary cables were included with the respective components... Hope thats a help...
