Toonstruck:
Set in a half cartoon world mixed with movie animation this would be perfect for a film and it would be very simular to "Who framed Roger Rabbit" The story is great and the actors would remain the same as they are in the game.
Virgin have enough money to do this but the big question would be, Will it pay off? The answer would most likely be NO!
Half Life
This time an action game. And the best I've played. The story is an "X-files" look-a-like with strange events in a scientific-military base (involving a parallel world with weird creatures). The ending is the best one I've seen in a game. This would make a perfect conspiracy/paranoia action thriller. We must consider though how they could make a first person shhot um up into a film.
Perfect Dark
Antother game that would be good becuase of it's story line. Perfect Dark was very simular to Half Life to begin with so the translation would be good. They could use that nice actor that we saw in the advert.
Tomb Raider
This is coming out very soon and it will most likely be a big success
Final Fantasy
Antoher game coming out and this one should be amzing. It is made from cgi clips and must of cost loads to make.
Games to films are becoming more common now and we are just seeing the beggining of a new era of filming and gaming.

Problem with the average RPG is that the stoyline is

I mean ff9 would look rather wierd and would not likely appeal to many
Any game in truth can make a good film if it has a strong script, great actors to back up the characters and a half decent budget. However in reality these things can still lead to a pants film. Quite a bit of luck is involved and I guess that computer game movies just have bad karma.

That Rare game, Goldeneye, that would probably make a good film.

I wrote then:
"As I said before, Jet Set Willy should be a British made comedy, you'd just have to get someone like David Lynch to do it.
Imagine a bloke trying to pick up bottles from all over his house and finding that it's been taken over by strange creatures and contains far more strange rooms than he thought it did. Damn that West Wing!"
I still think it's a good idea to make an old classic into a film. Sabre Wulf would be the equivelent of American Werewolf and Ant Attack would be made into a great homage to 50's giant ant B-movies! (I loved those!)
A More modern game that could be made into a film would be Black and White. It would certainly be interesting to see how they'd handle the giant animals, and it would be like the scene in King Kong when the gates are first opened to the special animal enclosure.
Black and White would have to be a comedy. Alan Rickman, who did such a good job in Dogma, could be a trainee god who has to stop his creature eating people and trampling buildings, while he trains it to fight the evil god (perhaps played by Christopher Walken), who terroises the village with the threat of his evil tiger animal.
On the surface of the planet, the people would request lots of things and Alan's god has a hard time keeping them happy, while trying to win the heart of a female god, who then becomes a captive of the evil one.
I reckon it would be the most original thing at the cinema all year!
1) After the poor game-to-films like mario and mortal combat, film makers are reluctant to touch anything that isn't bound to be huge... like Tomb Raider
2) Despite some games having great stories, most don't. Many are also highly dependant on interactivity, which cannot be transfered to films.
However, the idea is still a sound one- I have no doubts that the new Final Fantasy movie will be brilliany, especially since proper writers are employed!
Anyway, that's just my view!
