In short,

It’s a bit pants.

Played the beta for a good while and it has the right idea

Great graphics
Great sound
Great multiplayer mode (maybe modes, haven’t played anything expect from VIP which is hilarious)

But the slowness of the characters just gets really tedious
You shoot and you end up looking up into the sky.
I emptied a whole clip into one guy and he kills me in a couple of shots. Fair enough I sprayed but still in counter strike: Source you occasionally got the lucky headshot
And lastly: 20-30 second re-spawn times. Yes, 30 seconds...

Good game, just shame about that damn slow ass characters.

It did have some cracking AI and a simple to use command menu. I can't remember playing a tactical squad game that had such an easy to use command interface.

Yeah, Swat 3 was pretty average online, the majority of the servers were really laggy and it wasn't that much fun.

Single player was excellent though.

Can't remember SWAT 3 being that good online, though the co-op missions where fun.

Hopefully the single player will be up to scratch, tactical shooters this year are looking a little rare, and it'd be nice to play one that doesn't have you chasing down cardboard cut out terrorists in "Oh look we're being political" middle eastern settings.

Pretty much agree with all of your points. From a multi-player entity it will just pale behind Counter-Strike-Source, most online games do.

Single player wise it will shine I feel although the character movement is a little worrying, it feels like Swat 4: Pensioners Parole at the moment. I am hoping that was just when in stealth mode as Swat 3 had a stealth mode and an aggressive mode, which drastically altered the speed of the characters.

It was also an Open Beta that will have work done to it and if Splinter Cell is anything to go by as an example, the single player will feel a lot more polished.

Still got very high hopes for Swat 4 as a single player game, hopefully the multi-player will be sorted out before release.

I feel disappointed when I see helmet-cam footage from urban combat in Iraq and there aren't loads of sprays on the walls with cartoon characters and slurs on one's sexuality.

Nothing beats CounterStrike. When I grow up I want to be an Israeli Commando.
