Flicking through the garbage on cable TV the other day, I caught the end of a programme about World War 2, and they had a big montage of footage of people "going over the top", running through fields as the ground exploded around them, heavy-duty machine guns ploughing into walls of soldiers on beaches and anti-aircraft fire taking down planes...to a heavy metal soundtrack.
It just didn't sit well.

It was at the end of a programme on the History channel.
