Basically, I think it time to start upgrading the factory fitted stuff in my car. However, I have never read Max Power or any of those other boy racer mags, and know nothing about what I need to replace. Nor how to fit it. In fact, I know pretty much nothing, hence this post.
From the research I've done, it appears I could simply replace the head with a better one, like a Kenwood or Pioneer, preferably an Alpine, and just change the speakers for decent ones as well. No need for subwoofers, tweeters or amps in a basic set up. Just a couple of co-axial speakers.
If I decide later that I want more power, I could add an amp right? For that I'd need pre-out(s) on the head unit I think. Also, how many speakers should I fit for a decent sound? I'm thinking probably 4 co-axial ones, but again I'm really not sure.
If anyone knows much about car audio, especially if they have ever fitted it themselves, advice would be appreciated.
Have a look at this forum http://www.talkaudio.co.uk/vbb/index.php? very good with lots of info on anything audio :)
prays the link works
How the **** do you get the front speakers out!?! Plus you can't replace them with anything anyway, the holes in the dashboard are too small.
I can also drive a Laguna, now ~thats~ got some good speakers. They're the bog standard ones but it's all I need to play my music at a decent level without it sounding like it's come out of an earphone.
I was listening to Muse full volume today, it's great!
